Lost on a dangerous earth

I'm feeling really comfortable.
Was it all just a bad dream after all?
The crash seemed so real to me.

Or is there a life after death?
Maybe I am being reborn right now?

I open my eyes.
It is very dark.
There is a small light above me.

As I try to move, I feel intense pain.
I still try to scan my surroundings.
It feels as if I'm still in the capsule.

The window must be shattered.
There are many splinters in the capsule, also on my clothes.
The clothes are completely torn, but fortunately I have not suffered any cuts.

The rest of the capsule must also be completely ruined.
No power, and all the electronics are destroyed.
Everywhere I touch the capsule, metal plates come loose and individual parts fall out.
A repair seems impossible under these circumstances.

If I could at least reestablish communication, then we could discuss the situation.
But there's no value in waiting for the rescue now.
It would take way too long anyway.
They might even think I'm already dead.

I try to activate the night vision in my eyes, but it doesn't work. My energy production doesn't seem to work anymore.
I guess most of my technology is damaged.
It's a miracle that I'm still alive at all.

The small light above me could be some kind of window.
And I must be in a building. Or rather a cave.
I look around carefully, and at least recognize the outlines of some objects and some faint glimmers.

I get up in great pain and slowly cross the cave and see another light.
I follow the light and reach an exit soon.

I leave the cave.
It's really a sunny day and it looks beautiful out there.
There are green plants and rocks everywhere.
And a few colorful flowers can also be seen.
I've never seen such a nice place before.
I'm still in a difficult situation, but this view is already worth it.

Outised it's much more pleasant to walk.
The sunlight still seems to recharge my energy.
And my leg boosters are at least not completely ruined.

I'm getting hungry.
I should find some food.

The ancestors are said to have eaten berries, usually red fruits on green plants.

While searching for the berries, a small creature catches my eye.
It immediately hides behind a bush.

Then a huge creature slowly comes walking around the corner.
It has black fur, a thick tail and four legs.
It starts sniffing. And suddenly it bites behind the bush several meters away and I see it pull out and devour the little creature that has been hiding there.

Then the huge creature looks in my direction. It looks right at me and shows me its teeth.
I realize that I'm its next target.

I immediately turn around and run back towards the cave.
The entrance is too small for the monster to fit in.

But I quickly realize, I'm too slow. The cave is still too far away.
The creature comes closer and closer.
I won't make it in time.

I have only one option left.
I charge the laser weapon in my arm.
I hope the weapon is still intact and the absorbed solar energy is already enough.
Otherwise I'll just waste energy which could help me run.

Just as the weapon finished loading, I feel a scratch on my back.
I have just barely escaped a real bite.
But it still hurts.

I turn as I run, aim for the head, and fire.

The shot is not strong. But strong enough to confuse the monster.

I immediately continue running back to the cave.
After I entered the cave through the narrow entry, I lie down on the ground.

Shortly after, the monster comes after me and stretches its neck through the entrance.
It comes amazingly close to me.
But it has to realize that it can't reach me here and disappears again after a while.

Only now I notice the terrible pain in my back and my butt.
I touch my back. I am completely covered in blood.
And my clothes have turned into scraps of cloth, which cannot be worn anymore.

I take these rags off and put them on my back, hoping they will stop the bleeding.
I stay like this and close my eyes.

I really need some rest now.
If I move, I will only bleed more. This might kill me.
The cave ground isn't actually comfortable, but it's warm enough here.
If I just keep lying there for a while, I should survive this. And that's what matters now.
Maybe I'll be able to sleep a little.
